1.4 Of Dragons

When the dragons awake in the great fire other animals and beasts of  day and night were born also, but none of them were as mighty and terrible as the dragons.

There were red dragons who were  the greatest and always hungry, people say that they woke of the trees that were still in flames so their skin was hot and their tail always in flame and they could breath fire. It is told that the first dragon to awake was the one that came from the Nurgulen, so it was the greatest and it was he who devoured the first men. They called him the Zurgular, or Nurgul’s wrath. Zurgular was not lit in fire, only in the light of Nurgulen’s fruits. The birds were not afraid of him and forever followed him in the sky, they called him Niyaron in their own tongue, or “father of the winged”.

There were also black dragons who rose from the coal of the fallen trees, they were smaller than the red dragons but faster and they were breathing poisonous fumes that numbed everything live around them.

The grey dragons were made of ash and cinders, they were small but they could run and fly faster than the eye could see, their sharp teeth and a mighty jaw could pierce through anything in the world.

The blue dragons were very very rare, that some say they didn’t even exist, no one saw a blue dragon flying, but those that traveled high to the showy mountain tops have said that you can see them in the mornings as they drink water from the icy cold springs, and that is all that’s known about them.

But the dragons were the terrifying, merciless face of the Nurgulut, and were unleashed in great need and fear of destruction, and as such they brought even more destruction to the world.
