Just like crop circles, but in the snow and, a lot more complex and beautiful.
Artist Simon Beck creates this amazing artworks on snow and sand, though first each design is carefully planned and mapped out on a computer. The temporary artwork has a lifetime until the next snow fall or until the sun melts it or the beach waves washed it away.
The Zhangjiajie National Park is a scenic area in China comprised of precipitous stone pillars some of them as high as 1000 meters, and it all reminds us of Avatar.
One of the pillars is even officially renamed to Avatar Hallelujah Mountain in honor of the film, apparently according to the director James Cameron this place was the original inspiration for the floating mountains on the fictive moon Pandora.
The Zhangjiajie National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992 and in 2004 is also listed as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
Yesterday rainbow clouds were spotted over Northumberland, England. Scientifically known as polar stratospheric clouds, the colourful cloud formation appeared a bit more southern than usual. This kind of a phenomenon is also known as nacreous clouds.
What is really cool is that this type of clouds will linger on for this week as the UK is having some really cold weather.
The Chinese space agency just made public hundreds of images made by their lunar lander Chang’e 3.
The images are shot in December 2013 and January 2014. The rover Yutu (Jade Rabbit) which landed with Chang’e 3 appears on the images is currently stuck but still communicative.
Click the images for larger view or to save them.
Below you can find some of the most interesting images from the entire pack, and Emily Lakdawalla from The Planetary Society claims there are even more behind because not all of the images were made public.

The stars have always been an inspiration for the human kind and also an object of a constant wondering what are they, when we didn’t know. Today we know what the stars are, but we wonder what worlds they hide billions and billions (light) years away. Below you will find ten beautiful images of the Milky Way looming over various landscapes all over the world. It has become quite easy to photograph the night sky these days, all you need is a decent enough camera and a bit of knowledge which you cam find it for free on the internet.

Socotra Island is a small island of the coast of Yemen, mostly an arid desert the island provides an amazing backdrop as if you are on an alien planet, the dragon’s blood and bottle trees making most of the landscape with their weird shape unlike any other on Earth.
The default wallpapers that greets you once you start your Windows 10 machine.
The latest build of Windows 10 (10166) was released in the Windows Insider program, so here are the desktop backgrounds packed with it.
Dual screen 3840×1200
The images below are the screen locks, but in any case can be used as desktop backgrounds and they look pretty fantastic too.
As you can see all Windows 10 wallpapers are nature landscapes except for the default one which is a digital artwork of the Microsoft logo. My personal favorite though is the one with the starry sky and the Milky Way in view.
Sadly, no themes are packed with the insider preview, maybe when the RTM will be released, different regions or OEMs will have some included.
These are the stock wallpapers bundled with Android 5 ( Lollipop) on the Nexus 7. The resolution is good enough (probably even better) to use them for your desktop PC or lap top, because the Nexus packs a display with resolution of 1920×1200. So each of the eleven wallpapers has a greater resolution than that.
I like the clean, minimalistic look to them and they go along quite well with a Windows 8 OS.
A pack of 40 beautiful retina ready wallpapers for your iPad or another retina ready device. You can download the retina wallpapers and use them as background on any device though.
The latest edition of Ubuntu 13.10 titled Saucy Salamander was released just a few days ago. With it came a beautiful pack of new wallpapers created by the open source community. You can find them and download them above.
